NEWS, RUMORS, AND UPDATES
Last Updated - 11/01/2009
- RESORT NEWS - LANDSCAPING AND POOL REPAIRS FROM NOVEMBER 9-20, 2009
The landscaping and the concrete slabs at the Casitas Pool deck will undergo a refurbishment. No word if it will affect access to
the pool itself.
- RESORT NEWS - I found the 2009 Pop Warner packet online and
there is no mention of CSR as a site for the Pop Warner teams. The packet has All Stars and Port Orleans Riverside
only!! I guess overflow could end up anywhere but at least the majority of them will not be at CSR.
- PEPPER MARKET - The 10% gratuity is included for guests on the Disney Dining Plan.
- ROOM REHAB UPDATE!! - The renovations are complete and life is back
to normal at CSR!!
- UPDATE - Menu changes continue to occur at the Pepper Market.
The Pepper Market will no longer serve rib eye (only the Maya Grill) and has replaced it with a flank steak.
Also, the Pepper Market has removed the Wok Station (Chinese) and reduced the amount of dessert offerings.
- UPDATE - Going forward, La Marina will be hit or miss
as to whether or not it will be open from day to day, week to week. Inquiry at check in.
- NEWS!! - The 2010 Disney Dining Plan (DDP) is out and as usual,
the CSR restaurants are not included. But don't be alarmed yet because for the 2009 DDP, WDW did not include them as part
of the 2009 DDP until January 2, 2009.
- NEWS - Beginning January 3, 2010, the 2010 Coronado Springs Resort
rates will be $5 per night higher than other Moderates, year-round.
- NEWS - The health club is now accessible 24/7. It's staffed from 6:30 a.m.
to 7:00 p.m. Guests wanting 24-hour access to the club must meet with an attendant to sign a waiver and obtain a 24-hour access key.
- NEWS - Coronado Springs has switched to the new WDW mugs. The CSR resort
specific mugs can no longer be used at the resort.
- NEWS - Rix Lounge has new hours of operation. The Rix Lounge will no
longer be open on Sundays and Mondays. Tuesdays-Saturdays, they will open from 8 pm to 2am. Thursdays-Saturdays there will be a
DJ starting at 9 pm.
- PIZZA DELIVERY TO CSR - WDW advises to only order pizza from Domino's, Papa
John's, or Pizza Hut as other outside companies can not be trusted.
- UPDATE - The internal shuttle (courtesy coach) has been shut down as of March 2009.
- CSR has been under complete room renovations since October 2008. The entire process will take "about a year" to complete
all the villages of the resort. CSR is replacing the double beds with queens and new furniture to suit modern tastes; but still in theme.
Another 100 rooms will get upgraded to king beds. Rooms in cabana 9b will be transformed into a “Business class” club level. The aim is to
provide a level of experience that is equal or better to most upper end resorts outside of Disney. For instance, all of the rooms now are
getting modern LCD TV’s. Tables are being replaced with desks so that floor space is preserved after putting in larger beds. Most of these
updates are done with great stealth, so visiting guests will not be aware that changes are happening. New rooms will just magically appear
and some buildings simply won’t be available for a short period.
- Another point that I would like to stress. The cast members at Coronado Springs really enjoy making your stay magical. If there
is any special occasion that you might be celebrating with them…LET THEM KNOW BEFORE YOU ARRIVE! Birthdays, anniversaries, honeymoons
are very important to them.
Also, guests with special needs should let that be known during the reservation process with WDTC. They also know that situations change at inconvenient times,
so if a need comes up just before a guest arrives, call special resort needs (407-939-1000) or fax (407-939-1001) the hotel directly and let them know how they can best accommodate you. Walt Disney World is
dedicated to the enjoyment of many different people with many different needs…..just give them a heads up when making room reservations, dining reservations
(allergies, intolerances, religious, or lifestyle needs) and they can (almost) always make your experience as natural as anyone without special requirements.
With the new dining system WDW has just rolled out, they can pretty much just “make things happen” without our guests having to constantly re-state their needs at every podium.
But the guest must let them know that they need their assistance……so they can “Make Magic” for everyone.
They want all of their guests to enjoy their stay to the fullest and they are happy to help you do that no matter what your abilities or disabilities. They have lots of resources
to aid their guests and they are not afraid to use them.
If anyone has a special need(s), please call Special Resort Needs asap with your reservation # (407-939-7807 # 1) These CM's will block a room to be sure any needs you have will be met.
They are wonderful and there to help! Even if you do not require a handicap room, they can help - just explain your needs to them.
